Breathwork Coach Santa Barbara
What does a breathwork coach do?
Did you know that an action as natural and instinctive as breathing holds transformational power? Breathing is something we do all day every day and from the moment we’re born, usually without thinking much about it. But it holds amazing transformational power.
A breathwork coach will introduce you to the power of breathwork in your daily life. The way that you breathe has an immediate effect on your mind and body. A breathwork coach will help you to learn to breathe deeply and more efficiently. You’ll discover how conscious breathing can benefit your health. When you understand how to work with your breath, it can be transformational.
With your breathwork coach, you’ll explore a series of breathing exercises such as abdominal and diaphragmatic breathing, deep breathing and Qigong breathing. They will help you to realize the full potential of breathwork and how daily practice can change your life in multiple ways.
What is the difference between a breathing coach and a yoga teacher?
Breathwork is a fundamental aspect of yoga with Yogic Breathing at its core. Breathwork coaches often discover its power via yoga practice. Breathwork coaching tends to appeal to yoga students who want to enhance their practice at another level.
However, a breathwork coach will mainly focus on breathing exercises and ways to master your breath rather than yoga postures and stances. It’s a relatively simple and easy practice, although powerful.

About Your Breathwork Coach: Beatrice Appay
Beatrice introduces herself in her own words:
As a lifelong yoga, qigong and Wim Hof practitioner and instructor, breathwork is part of my everyday practice.
Breathwork is central to the Appay Method.
My own journey with breathwork began more than 40 years ago when I started to practice yoga. In a world where the demands of modern life often left me feeling depleted and disconnected, I sought a transformative practice that could provide both immediate relief and lasting transformation. That’s when I discovered the incredible potential of breathwork in particular with the Ruchaul Method that integrates pranayama in the asanas themselves and in between.
Through dedicated practice and exploration, I experienced profound shifts in my physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The rhythmic movement of each breath allowed me to tap into a well of vitality and tranquility that was dormant within me. With each inhale and exhale, I discovered the ability to release tension, let go of anxieties, and unlock a deeper connection to my inner self.
As I delved further into the art of breathwork, I realized its immense potential to help others navigate their own paths to wellness. With years of training programs and certification programs under my belt, I am now honored to guide individuals like you through personalized breathwork sessions tailored to your unique needs and aspirations. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and renewal.
What are the different breathing techniques and modalities I will learn from the program?
- Conscious breathing
- Abdominal and diaphragmatic breathing
- Deep breathing

- Active breathing
- Qigong breathing.
- Pranayama (yogic breathing)
- Cardiac Coherence & Cardiac Resonance

Why choose breathwork?
Breathwork & meditation are closely linked as therapeutic practices. Breathwork journeys access mental, physical, emotional, and even spiritual levels. It can help you to access the subconscious in ways that other practices may not. As such, you may find that you make breakthroughs in your personal growth and transformation that you have not reached via other techniques.
Your breath works directly with your nervous system making it a powerful pathway to better focus, mindfulness, and relaxation.
What should I expect during a breathwork practice?
Everyone’s breathwork journey is individual and should be taken at their own pace.
You will learn to breathe consciously with or without pauses between the inhale and the exhale. This in-depth breathing practice can be an emotional and spiritual experience.
You may feel sensations throughout your body such as tingling or waves of energy. On an emotional level, you may recall vivid memories and pictures from years ago.
Be assured that any breathwork session with Beatrice is a totally safe space for you to express and experience feelings, emotions, and sensations in a supported and non-judgmental environment.
How long does it take to learn?
Beatrice’s breathing masterclass and breathwork course comprises a 1 hour preliminary session followed by 3 session modules.
The preliminary session and subsequent 3 session modules are tailored to your specific needs and goals and taken at your own pace.
- The Fundamental series
- The Calm series
- The Active series
- The Qigong series
